- Browns general manager Tom Heckert said Thursday that the team is considering trading McCoy after drafting quarterback Brandon Weeden with its second first-round pick, No. 22 overall, from Oklahoma State.
- The Browns selected Oklahoma State Brandon Weeden with the No. 22 overall pick. Weeden and running back Trent Richardson, picked No. 4, will have a chance to transform the Browns' sluggish offense in 2012.

"Thanks to: Mary Kay Cabot"Weeden, Richardson impressive Much of the buzz after the first two practices centered around Weeden's exceptional arm strength and delivery, both on the deep ball and intermediate pass. Watching him whistle out routes into the hands of his receivers, it wasn't hard to imagine him standing on the mound in the minor leagues, delivering 90-plus mph fastballs.
He displayed an arm strength not seen around these parts since Derek Anderson, but the smooth touch on short passes that Anderson didn't possess. The ball came out quickly, effortlessly, with a spin so fast it was barely perceptible.

"Thanks to: Mary Kay Cabot"Browns close with Richardson They agreed to terms on a four-year deal with linebacker James-Michael Johnson, the fourth-rounder from Nevada, and signed tight end fullback Brad Smelley, the seventh-rounder from Alabama, to a four-year contract. Running back Trent Richardson, Smelley's former Alabama teammate, also told 92.3 The Fan Wednesday that he's close to signing his deal and hopes to have it done by Thursday.

"Thanks to: Mary Kay Cabot"Browns move to #3 The Browns gave up a fourth, fifth and seventh-round pick to acquire the Vikings' pick. Those are believed to be the 118th, 139th and 211th picks. National reports, including those on NFL Network, say the Browns are moving up to draft Alabama running back Trent Richardson.
